It is generally easy to spot a fake profile on Facebook. As a general rule if the profile picture is of a really gorgeous female and they claim to be a lesbian or bisexual, they are either attention seekers or men. Most likely they are sad teenage boys or lonely old men. Either way, they are a person incapable of getting laid.
The other way to spot a fakey is when they only have a couple of photos. When they have “liked” pages designed to add friends and all their friends are also attractive lesbians and people from Durka-Durka-Stan with no vowels in their name, they are also fake.
So when I got a friend request from a good looking female with a rather provocative profile picture claiming to be bisexual, I was immediately on my guard. It was obviously a man because he referred to me as “sexy” in his opening line and then asked if I wanted to have some naughty fun. No woman talks like that! However, this guy was slightly cleverer because he had created a couple of other fake profiles to make it seem like the girl he was portraying had real friends. One of the other fake profiles was of a jilted ex-lesbian lover who was being a bitch. The second was a sensitive man who was “always there for her”. Both of these other people soon added me as friends and both started hitting on me.
As clever as this guy was to have thought of creating extra profiles to add some authenticity to his claims of being a lesbian, he made a few fundamental errors. Firstly the 3 of them always seemed to log on and log off at the same time. Secondly, they all had the same style of writing and were equally crap at spelling and punctuation. Thirdly, when I allowed the “girl” to email me, she immediately sent some nude pics of her. Well when I say her, they had no resemblance to her profile pics and had obviously been stolen from some dodgy porn site. Not only that but the senders name was from Alexander Ridley. I’m sure Alexander is a mans name…
Verdict: Quite clever but must try harder
